North Guilford Nursery School (NGNS) was founded in 1955 to provide families in the community with a quality, developmentally age-appropriate nursery school program. It became incorporated in 1966, and continues to offer children and families a positive, inspiring, memorable preschool experience.
The school provides a nurturing environment that is friendly and secure, in which children can develop and strengthen their individual personalities. Our curriculum is designed to enhance their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development, and promote independent self-help skills.
North Guilford Nursery School offers a variety of learning experiences to engage children in exploring the world around them, to introduce concepts, pre-writing and pre-math skills, and an opportunity to foster their socialization through play with their peers. Children will participate in active and quiet play, exploration and discovery, individual and small group activities, dramatic play, music, as well as activities that promote self-reliance.
The school is a non-sectarian preschool program. The programs and practices reflect many recommendations and policies of The National Association for the Education of Young Children as well as the CT Departments of Public Health and Education.
NGNS is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and follows regulations for Child Day Care Centers and Group Day Care Homes.
